Soap Sculpture

Soap Sculpture

This is a picture of my Soap sculpture that I made in class. The main idea of the Sculpture and Installation class is to explore some materials used to create sculptures, which include wires, tapes, woods, and many more different kinds of materials. As a student, we learn how to build and learn to use sculpture tools. This third project is a carving soap project and it is a challenging project since we can’t carve something that looks familiar to us. So I decided to carve my soap based on my moods, during this project, sometimes I feel the emptiness so I made some little holes that filled with nothing. But then there is a curvy part at the left-right of my soap, that is when I feel the anxiety because for me anxiety is shaped like something curvy and looks uncomfy. I like to challenge myself a little bit while doing this project, so I made all the holes connected to each other, which is also the hardest part of this soap carving project. But after all, this is a fun project, I really enjoy doing it because the good smell came out of the soap and the carving part is super satisfying. The best thing about this project is I learn how to be careful with all the small details and to not break the soap, so I was being patient with it. I learn patience is the key to success.
